Why use it
MP4 uses modern video compression, so the same animation is usually many times smaller than a GIF.
The video is encoded in H.264 with a widely compatible pixel format, so it plays on almost every device and social network.
Frequently asked questions
Will the video loop?
MP4 files don't loop by themselves, but most players and social apps loop short videos automatically.
What happens to transparency?
MP4 doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas become black.
